Late last week, the cable network made an announcement. The network revealed that Season 13 of My 600-Lb. Life will premiere on January 1st. as Dr. Younan Nowzaradan, a Houston-based bariatric surgeon who has been on the show since its 2012 premiere, helps a fresh ensemble of overweight people lose weight.
In the first Season 13 teaser, one of these cast members declares, “I have been this way my whole life,” while another informs viewers:
“I am stuck in this body.”
During an appointment, it looks like we will also get to witness the previously mentioned doctor having a serious conversation with one of his patients.
In the video, Dr. Nowzaradan states, “The adjustments are up to you.”
Unfortunately, My 600-Lb. Life has been the focus of multiple lawsuits in recent years, and over a dozen former cast members have died as a result of it.
For instance, Larry Myers died of a heart attack in July 2023. Additionally, it was rumored that Destinee Lashaee, the first transgender star on the show, committed suicide at the beginning of 2022.
Early in 2023, the most recent season of My 600-Lb Life debuted.
The following is the series’ official synopsis:
In hour-long episodes, TLC tells compelling tales of morbidly obese people’s medical journeys as they try to save their own lives.
The featured people, who weigh over 600 pounds (42 stones), face physical and emotional challenges for the rest of their lives after bravely choosing to have high-risk gastric bypass surgery.
They want to regain their independence, repair their connections with friends and family, and revitalize their sense of self-worth in addition to making significant changes to their looks.
In addition, Dr. Nowzaradan will serve as the anchor of a brand-new documentary series called The 6000 lb. Diaries with Dr. Now, according to a Lifetime announcement.
It will track ten severely obese people who are battling to shed weight and change their lives after reaching a total weight of 6,000 pounds.
The 10-episode, two-hour series, which is set at Dr. Now’s medical facility in Houston, includes first-person journal footage from people who have reached a “lose-or-die” moment in their life.
